Mount Ada

Mount Ada is located on Baranof Island and 30 miles (48 km) north of Port Alexander, Alaska.

[4] It is set within the South Baranof Wilderness on land managed by Tongass National Forest.

[2] The peak ranks as the highest summit in the wilderness and sixth-highest in Sitka Borough.

Although modest in elevation, topographic relief is significant as the summit rises 4,528 feet (1,380 m) above tidewater of Chatham Strait in 2.5 miles (4.0 km) and 4,170 feet (1,271 m) above Yermak Lake in 1.25 mi (2.01 km).

[7] Weather systems coming off the Gulf of Alaska are forced upwards by the mountains (orographic lift), causing heavy precipitation in the form of rain and snow.
