Mount Eleanor is located in the Chigmit Mountains of the Aleutian Range.
[2] The mountain is situated 145 mi (233 km) southwest of Anchorage, 65 mi (105 km) west of Homer, and six miles south of Lake Clark National Park.
Although modest in elevation, topographic relief is significant as the summit rises up from tidewater at Iniskin Bay in two miles.
Based on the Köppen climate classification, Mount Eleanor is located in a subarctic climate zone, with long, cold, snowy winters, and cool summers.
The months May through June offer the most favorable weather for viewing or climbing the peak.
