Suriname at the 2016 Summer Olympics

Suriname competed at the 2016 Summer Olympics in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, from 5 to 21 August 2016.

The Suriname Olympic Committee sent a team of six athletes, four men and two women, to compete in four different sports at the Games, matching the nation's roster size with Seoul 1988 and Barcelona 1992.

Apart from Thumen, notable athletes on the nation's roster featured swimming stalwart Renzo Tjon A Joe (men's 50 m freestyle) and badminton player Soren Opti, who was selected to carry the Surinamese flag in the opening ceremony.

Suriname has received a Universality invitation from FINA to send two swimmers (one male and one female) to the Olympics.
